Community Forum: Food Justice, Science, and Democracy
Date: Saturday, June 6
Time: 1:00-4:30 p.m.
Location: Minneapolis Capri Theater, 2027 W Broadway Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55411
Join us for a community forum to explore how Minnesota communities are partnering with scientists and researchers to secure food justice and equity for all. The Union of Concerned Scientists invites you to find out how local residents, researchers, public health officials, and policy makers are collaborating to address food access, affordability, and availability in Minnesota's communities of color, low-income communities, and tribal communities. Please join us Saturday, June 6, 1:00-4:30 p.m. for a community forum on food equity, science, and democracy.
This forum will offer a unique opportunity to discuss and explore how communities are partnering with scientists and researchers to secure food justice and equity for all—including unique assets, barriers, and strategies for how we can overcome them. You will also be able to make connections with local leaders, organizations, researchers, and policy makers working on food justice and equity.
The afternoon will wrap with a compelling theatrical performance, Soul (Sustainable, Organic, Urban and Local) Food Monologues, directed by curator LaDonna Redmond, where community leaders and scientists working on overcoming food injustices and inequities will share their experiences through the moving art of storytelling.
